PillarOne.RiskAnalytics 0.3 does not open under Windows XP
Up to Software
I have installed PillarOne.RiskAnalytics 0.3 (windows installer), but when I try to open "PillarOne.RiskAnalytics" in the Start menu, nothing opens.
However, it seems that the reserving software that comes under the name "PillarOne" is opening correctly.
Do anybody have the same problem?
Thank you by advance for your answers.
Most likely the problem is that there is no appropriate Java version on your machine. To make the installer faster we removed the unnecessary compilation of the software during the installation process. Since we don't need to compile anymore during the installation, we don't need to distribute a Java runtime environment in the installer. Consequently, RiskAnalytics v0.3 relies on Java being available in your machine.
I just wrote an FAQ regarding this topic and how to resolve it - no big deal, just install Java and check that the environment variable JAVA_HOME is points to this installation, which the windows installer of Java should take care of.
Re: PillarOne.RiskAnalytics 0.3 does not open under Windows XP
I downloaded and installed PillarOne.RiskAnalytics 0.3 today onto my Windows XP laptop and I had the same issue. Markus's solution worked for me: I had already installed Java 6 some time earlier, but the JAVA_HOME environment variable was not set. I set it to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_12 and now it seems to be working ok.
The text window showing the progress of the initial compilation process doesn't close itself after completion, however. If I close that window manually, the main application window also closes - a fairly minor issue.
The text window needs to stay open. If you are working with the application you will recognize that some log messages appear in it. Once the application window is closed, it closes too.
